Mary Louise Holt, age 90, of Phelps, Wis., and formerly of Naperville, Ill., joined her husband, Stanley (Bud) Holt, in Heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 26, 1929, to Martin and Mary (Bulda) Hohe.

Mary Lou graduated from Morton High School, and attended Morton Junior College.

Mary Lou and Stanley, the love of her life, were married on Feb. 3, 1951. They raised their three children in Naperville, with summers always at the lake in Phelps.

Mary Lou was a full-time homemaker, with occasional jobs in the secretarial field, including several years as church secretary at Bible Baptist Church in Naperville. But her family always came first, followed by her church. She found no greater joy than serving her Lord and Savior, which she did in caring for babies and using her gift of hospitality toward others.

She was a second Mom and Grammy to many friends and neighbors over the years. The coffee pot was always on, and all were welcome to join her for a cup, and some love and support.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, sons, Bill (Olivia) Holt and Ken (Julie) Holt, all of Oregon; daughter, Linda (Carl) Bender of Kansas; grandchildren, Christopher (Felicity) Holt, Alex (Ele) Soto, Katie Holt and Stephanie Holt, Tom (Jayme) Holt and Sarah (Matt) Duffel, and Claire Bender and Adam Bender; as well as 23 great-grandchildren.

She also is survived by her nephew, Mark (Betsy) Hohe; and sister-in-law, Gloria Hohe of Georgia; and many dear cousins and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, William Hohe.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Details will be specified at a later time.

Memorial donations may be made to Land O’ Lakes Bible Church, 5937 US Hwy. 45, Land O’ Lakes, WI 54540.
