Robert “Bob” “Grandpa” Bowman Sr. was suddenly called to Heaven on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at his home in Eagle River, Wis. He was 89 years old.

He was born in Geneva, Ill., to Godfrey Frederick Bowman Sr. and Marie Rose Graff Bowman on Oct. 17, 1930. He was one of five children (Ruth, Godfrey, Verdel, Robert and Viola).

The family would vacation at Heart Lake, Wis., in the summer. 

He was 22 when he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the war. When he returned, he was employed at Dukane Electronics in St. Charles, Ill., as an electronics technician. It is where he met his future wife.

He married Ann Kocyan on Nov. 26, 1955, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Virgil, Ill. They settled into married life in Aurora, Ill. He worked at All Steel as a metal assembler.

After years of vacationing in Conover, Wis., they moved there permanently in 1969.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Ann Bowman, in 1995; his siblings, Ruth Ruhaak, Godfrey Bowman Jr., and Verdel Miller.

He is survived by his three children, Robert Jr. and Lisa Bowman, David Sr. and Gail Bowman, and Marie and Jim Beckholt; and his sister, Viola Plante.

His seven grandchildren are David Jr., Benjamin, Nikki and Mike, Robert III, Ryan and Sarah, Christopher, and Dayton and Heather.

His three great-grandchildren are Taylor, Brayden and Silas.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Snows Anglican Episcopal Church and The Rock.

He enjoyed his daily visits to Pick ’n Save, sitting with his friends and family, swapping stories and laughing. Thank you for the coffee and rolls! 

He loved his family, playing Scratchers, feeding the wildlife, and was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
