Robert J. Gelling, age 78, passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at home with family.

Bob was born in Chicago, Ill., on Feb. 2, 1942, to Frank and Florence Gelling. 

Bob loved his family and friends, his dogs, hockey, fishing with his Iowa pal, Denny, eating out, garage projects, reminiscing, napping, taking long drives, and his beloved Northwoods.

He enjoyed his sales career in hydraulics and pneumatics after he graduated from Phelps High School in 1960, and Kenosha Technical Institute (Gateway Tech now). 

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn; daughter, Lisa (Joe) Chestnut of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; son, Scott (Tasha) of Chicago and Eagle River, Wis.; grandchildren, Trey, Torin, Ava, Abby and Ruth; sisters, Donna and Marge; as well as nieces, nephews and many close friends. 

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Grace; his sisters, Bernice, Virginia and Helen; and brothers, Jim and Mike. 

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Please wear a mask. 

Bob lived his life showing everyone his love, and that will be his legacy.
