Rodger Szopa, a resident of Three Lakes, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020. He was 78.
He was born Aug. 16, 1941, in Mattoon, to Stanley and Lorraine (née Leiskau) Szopa.
Mr. Szopa’s family moved to Three Lakes in the mid 1940s. He attended school in Three Lakes and graduated in 1960. 
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and served until 1965 when he was honorably discharged.
After returning from the Air Force, Mr. Szopa then went to work for General Electric Medical Systems. 
He married Mary Kriesel Nov. 5, 1966, in Milwaukee, where they resided until 1980. He then went to work for the Three Lakes Sanitary District in 1987, from which he retired in 2005.
Mr. Szopa was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, June Simon.
He is survived by his wife; one brother, Jean; a niece and nephew; and other relatives. 
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
