Rosella June Ong-Kazda passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the age of 96, at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, Wis.

She was born on June 18, 1924, to Fredrick J. and Catherine G. (Cameron) Longer in Washington, Iowa.

She married Francis Luke Ong Dec. 1, 1943, father of her two children, and married William Kazda Nov. 14, 2002. 

Rosella was known by her friends as June.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1942. She had the nickname of “Junior” in high school. She was a member of Theta Mu, Girl Reserves, Glee Club, Chemistry Club, School Journal, and Homemaking Club, and president of Home Room. 

June worked for Illinois Bell Telephone in downtown Chicago, Ill., for over 30 years and retired in 1982.

Prior to her retirement, Francis, nickname Tonto, and June built a retirement home in Eagle River, Wis.

June became very active in the Eagle River Hospital Auxiliary, was president and served in many other activities of the Auxiliary.

She was a longtime member of the Eagle River Community Bible Church. She was called to serve as the church organist and pianist for many years. She also served as church secretary.  

June was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Catherine; husbands, Francis Ong and William Kaz­da; brothers, William, Rich­ard, Jack and Hal Longer. 

June is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Max) Rockafellow; son, David Lee (Leanne) Ong; grandson, Max Francis Gerald Rockafellow; brother, Donald Longer; granddaughters by marriage, Ann Marie Rockafellow (Michael) Guenther and Aimee Jo Rockafellow (Tom) Weston; daughters of William Kazda, Lorraine Kazda Medes and Linda Kazda Thomas; granddaughters, Patty Thomas Mule and Marie Medes; grandsons, Daniel William Thomas and Michael Medes. 

June will be missed very much by her family and many friends. In her retirement years June has given of her time and talent for her community. She will truly be missed. Thank you, June. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 30, 2021, at Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, with visitation at 10 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Dave Johnson and his son, Pastor Jon Johnson.

There will be a grave interment service at Eagle River Cemetery for those who would like to attend. The Community Bible Church will be having a luncheon after the services, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Community Bible Church, P.O. Box 531, Eagle River, WI 54521-0531.
