Sammy ‘Sam’ L. Blakley of Eagle River, Wis., passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the age of 83.

Sam was born on August 13, 1938, in Danville, Ill., to Leland and Ivy Blakley.

As a young man, he proudly served in the Marine Corps.

He became a real estate broker and sold property in Chicago, Ill., before moving to Eagle River. He opened Blakley & Blakley Real Estate, where he became known for selling vacation and family homes.

Sam was a longtime parishioner at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and was friends with many in the Eagle River area and elsewhere. He will be remembered for his storytelling and for his friendliness, humor, and laughter – especially over a Chicago-style hot dog.

Sam is survived by his children, Bryan (Dyanne) of Winter Springs, Fla., Susie of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael (Sarah) of St. Paul, Minn., and Ryan of Detroit, Mich.; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends who will miss him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Ivy Blakley; and sister, Sandra.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Eagle River. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. and will run until just prior to the start of Mass.

Condolences and donations for the family may be sent to 2371 Bush Ave. E, Maplewood, MN 55119. Donations will be used to support research for Alzheimer’s disease and offset funeral costs.
