Stephen “Steve” C. Utzinger, 76, passed away unexpected­ly at the Marshfield Medical Cen­ter on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, after a courageous battle with lymphoma cancer.  

He was born to the late Charles and Beatrice Ut­zinger in Chicago, Ill. The family moved to Milwaukee in 1954.  

Steve was a Vietnam vet and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He lived proudly by the motto, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”  “Semper Fi” 

In connection with his great love of flying, Steve attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical Institute in Daytona, Fla., completing his studies and receiving his commercial pilot license.   He also received an associate’s degree in Applied Science in Aviation  — Mid-Management from the Kenosha Technical Institute.  

He worked in the leather and shoe business for 50 years before retiring in 2003. Although he always said he was “retired” he continued in semi-retirement to continue his long-standing relationships with the wonderful friends he made in the industry. 

Steve loved hunting, fishing and camping. He maintained a friendship with his high school buddies Hank, Jay, Ira, Tony and Bill, and for the last 56 years only missing two years of not being able to hunt with all or some of these great guys.   

Steve will be deeply missed by his loving family, and wife and best friend, Nanette (Hupf) and their blended family of three beautiful daughters, Alicia Utzinger, Christine Utzin­ger and Beth Raabe; brother, David (Patricia, deceased); sister, Kristin; brothers-in-law, Joe M. and Joe H.; sisters-in-law, DeEtt (Terry), Lynne and Charlette (Greg); father-in-law, Tom (Sandy); and niece, Heather M.; and many other relatives and friends.
