Tom “Pappy” Mareth, age 72, a resident of Phelps, Wis., died on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Ascension Eagle River Hospital.

He was born in Aurora, Ill., on Jan. 14, 1948, to John and June Mareth.

Tom worked for the U.S. Forest Service and was a logger and a farmer. He enjoyed woodworking, getting his own lumber from his sawmill.

Tom was an avid baseball player and also gardened, loved his animals and above all, loved being a grandpa.

He was a member of Twin Lakes Bible Church where he also served as a deacon. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan; children, David Mareth, Mary Neimisto, and James (Heather) Mareth; mother-in-law, Sophie Bor­itz; brother-in-law, Steve (Donna) Bortiz; sisters-in-law, Sandra Walker, Joni Lundeen, and Judy (Joe) Williams; nephews, Jona­thon and Joseph Williams, and Angelo Lundeen; niece, Carly Lundeen; grandchildren, Dillon, Cassidy, Abygail, Eragon, Robert, Emilie, Lenora, Dante, and Michelle; and great-grandchild, Greyson; and many other family and friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
