William Robert “Bill” Kuhn, age 74, of Neillsville, Wis., passed away peacefully at his current home in Three Lakes, Wis., surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 5, 2021.

Bill was born on Jan. 26, 1947, in Neillsville, to Bernard H. Kuhn and Ruby V. (Rodman) Kuhn, who preceded him in death in 2001 and 2016.

Bill spent most of his life near Neillsville,  where he graduated from high school in 1967, and then proudly joined the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed the challenges of operating heavy road construction equipment while building roads in Vietnam as a SPC5 with the 554th Engineer Battalion. Bill was honorably discharged from the Army in 1970.

Throughout his life Bill excelled at several occupations including farming, driving school bus, home construction, bridge construction, welding and transporting heavy equipment. He was also active in the Neillsville American Legion Post 73 and VFW Post 7908.

Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” (Strzelczyk) Kuhn who he married May 7, 2007, as well as five children, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 13 siblings, many nieces and nephews, and his furry sidekick, Ikon.

Bill loved to spend his time on the lake visiting with family and neighbors, fishing, or just sitting on the dock watching the ducks and wildlife.

Throughout his life Bill was always quick to lend a helping hand however he could, and many will miss his quick wit, grins and overall generosity and kindness.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at 6 p.m. at the Northwoods Assembly of God Church, 926 U.S. Highway 45 South, Eagle River, WI 54521.

Bill’s family would like to thank all who called, visited, or sent cards or prayers during his illness. Many thanks especially to the wonderful caregivers at Northern Hospice.
