Dear Editor:

American Rescue Plan Act was a lifeline for North Woods restaurants. Direct payments of $1,433,350 saved 19 restaurants in nine Vilas County towns during the worst of the pandemic.

The state and local Fiscal Recovery Fund’s release to county, city, municipal and tribe was “government as the economic solution” for every part of our great state during the pandemic recovery.

My hope is that our Republican leaders will support such bipartisan solutions if needed in the future — Sen. Johnson, Congressman Tiffany, State Sen. Felzkowski and Rep. Swearingen.

Thanks to the Democratic leadership of President Biden and Gov. Evers, we can enjoy a summer dinner out in our favorite restaurant that perhaps survived this economic downturn because government worked.
