Dear Editor:

In her Jan. 30 letter “No environmental need for predator ‘killing contests,’ ” Juliee de la Terre made an argument against the needless and senseless killing of coyotes, bobcats and other animals.

There is one species that is absent; a species that has been legally hunted and killed every day since 1973: unborn human babies.

Ms. de la Terre was correct in saying that what is missing is respect. Killing the creation that God has so wonderfully made is not showing proper respect to the creator nor to the life that has been created.

Until we understand that respect for God will lead to respect for creation, we will continue to see and hear about “killing contests” of beast and baby alike.
