Letter to the Editor:

In reply to Mr. Jeff Laadt’s opinions on strong government from the April 8 Vilas County News-Review:

Poor Mr. Laadt. After many years in the North Woods, he is still unable to shed his Chicago, big government roots.

An obvious Trump hater, he admonishes Trump and all conservatives for being unable to lead at this time of health and economic uncertainty.

Frankly, watching the news (ABC on April 10), our government under President Trump and friends seem to be steering the ship in the right direction. Trump has been smart enough to temper his usual omniscience by relying more upon Dr. Fauci and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is a good thing.

Dr. Fauci’s initial death projection from COVID-19 was between 100,000 to 240,000, quite a staggering amount. Thankfully, it looks like we may fall short of even the lower prediction.

Nevertheless, it is not yet time for Mr. Laadt to point fingers. I have noticed in the past few days that Trump and Cuomo are beginning to drop their partisanship. I suggest that Mr. Laadt embrace the good in America or move back to Chicago.
