Letter to the Editor:

Here is a quick history lesson for those who either slept through or were not taught American history.

President Woodrow Wilson, who imposed the Jim Crow laws on the federal government employees and military, was a Democrat.

Southern governors George Wallace, Orval Faubus and Lester Maddox were all Democrats. Sheriff Bull Connor was a Democrat. And all the “Dixiecrats” who opposed the civil rights, voting rights and housing rights bills in Congress were all Democrats.

Chicago, Ill., mayors Harold Washington and Eugene Sawyer, and Detroit, Mich., Mayor Coleman Young were Democrats. The current mayors of the terrorized cities of New York, N.Y.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Baltimore, Md.; Atlanta, Ga.; Austin, Texas; Detroit; Chicago; Milwaukee; Minneapolis, Minn.; St. Louis, Mo.; Denver, Colo.; Seattle, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; San Francisco, Calif.; and Los Angeles, Calif., are all Democrats.

Then, President Abraham Lincoln, who proclaimed the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves, was a Republican. President Dwight Eisenhower, who opened the Little Rock High School in Little Rock, Ark., to all students, was a Republican. President Ronald Reagan, who authorized the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, was a Republican. President George H.W. Bush, who nominated Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court, was a Republican. And President Donald Trump, with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and Sen. Tim Scott, who have opened more than 90,000 “Opportunity Zones” with $75 billion in private investments to renew depressed areas in 50 states, are Republicans.

So if you don’t believe me, look it up before history is ignored, forgotten or rewritten.
