Preregistration for the 34th annual National Championship Musky Open Tournament is open through Thursday, Aug. 1.

This family-friendly event, hosted by the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center along with the Musky Clubs Alliance of Wisconsin, brings in amateur anglers and fishing enthusiasts from all over the country Aug. 16-18.

There are a variety of trophy categories in the tournament, including an overall winner (by inches), husband/wife team, youth and guardian/youth team.

In addition to fishing for muskies on one of the seven lake families in the greater Eagle River area, participants are eligible to win door prizes and raffle prizes. Every participating angler has a chance for a 2019 model 1880 Angler Ranger Boat with a 150XL Pro XS Mercury Outboard Motor and a RangerTrail Trailer in the grand prize drawing Sunday afternoon (must be present to win).

Preregistration cost is $65 per angler and helps ensure a fishing spot on the participant’s preferred lake family. Preregistering also helps guarantee the correct tournament hat and T-shirt size.

All other registration takes place at the event for $70 per angler. A portion of the proceeds goes toward fish stocking and habitat imĀprovement.

Tournament headquarters is at the Vilas County Fairgrounds on Highway 70 West in Eagle River.
