Free fishing seminars for children ages 5 to 13 are held Wednesdays, beginning June 12 through Aug. 7, at 6:30 p.m., at Hi-Pines Campground, located at 1919 Highway 45 N. in Eagle River.

All children will be given information and instruction about fishing, a goody bag and other prizes. Prizes could be a rod and reel, a tackle box and other fishing or nonfishing items.

Topics covered are fish identification, size limits, license requirements, rigging slip bobbers, tying knots, fish habitat, how to net and handle fish, catch and release, boating safety, being respectful to others, protecting the environment, casting techniques and the prevention of spreading invasive species.

The seminars, in their 27th year, are conducted by members of Headwaters Chapter 12 of Muskies Inc. and Wisconsin Conservation Congress delegates from Vilas and Oneida counties.
