Kathleen “Kathy” F. Rushlow of Eagle River, Wis., passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Friendly Village in Rhine­lander, Wis., at the age of 67.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., on May 24, 1949, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Good) Sholz.

She was a 1968 graduate of St. Alphonus High School in Dearborn, Mich.

Upon her graduating from high school, Kathy entered the Nursing program at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill., where she graduated in 1970.

She was employed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Chicago, and later moved back to Dearborn, where she continued in the health professions until 1979.

She, along with her soon-to-be husband, Dennis Rush­low, moved to Eagle River and purchased J.D.’s Trading Post on April 1, 1980. The couple changed the name to the Mud Creek Saloon, operating it for 37 years.

Kathy and Dennis were united in marriage on April 14, 1981, in Toledo, Ohio.

Kathy managed the kitchen for the Vilas County Jail and had served on the Vilas County Board of Supervisors for several years. She also had been a member of SERVE with the Kalmar Senior Citizens.

Kathy enjoyed reading, playing bingo and fishing.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Dennis Rushlow; and by her brother, Lawrence (Linda) Sholz of Jackson, Mich.

At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or service.
