The Phelps Chamber of Commerce recognizes the volunteers who are dedicated to keeping the Phelps-area backcountry trail systems, such as the Deerskin Snowshoe Trails, in good condition.

The Deerskin trails are located on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and maintained through an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service. The Phelps area offers a variety of trails that allows visitors to enjoy the North Woods. Many of these volunteers are users of the trail system and take the time to maintain the trails to ensure everyone can enjoy them.

Many people visit Phelps to enjoy all the recreational opportunities that are available in the area.

“Our trail systems not only offer an abundance of year-round activities, but also draw visitors from throughout the region to Phelps,” said a chamber spokesperson. “These individual volunteers that support our trail systems are greatly appreciated for their hard work and dedication to the Phelps area.”

When visiting these trail systems, visitors are welcome to help clear any debris along the trail.

Those interested in volunteering on future trail cleanup days should contact the Phelps Chamber of Commerce at (715) 545-3800 or chamber-office@phelpswi.us.
