The Phelps School and Community Committee will sponsor a winter carnival at Phelps School Saturday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m.  

Hot dogs and chili will be offered at no charge in the commons area from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Children’s games and inflatables will be set up in the big gym from 4 to 7 p.m. and Bret and Frisk will perform from 5 to 6:30 p.m., in the commons area. 

The event is open to the public.

As part of  the carnival, a chili and soup cook-off and pie dessert baking contest also has been planned. Participants are welcome to make their best chili, soup, pie or dessert to be judged and awarded.  Judging will be based on taste, texture and aroma.   

Entries must be taken to the school commons between 3 and 3:45 p.m., for judging at 4 p.m. Soup and chili should be taken in a Crock-Pot®. All entries must have the contestant’s name on the bottom. There is no limit to the number of entries one person can submit. 

All entries will be offered to the public from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with winners announced at 6 p.m. Contest rules can be picked up at the school office.
