Local scholarships totaling more than $10,000 were awarded to Phelps High School graduates.

Before announcing awards, Director of Student Activities and Learning Jason Pertile thanked all of the local organizations that have supported and continue their support of the students of Phelps.

“Each year every graduating student has access to all of these scholarships and I encourage them to apply,” said Pertile. “The investment to return ratio is huge as some of these students are receiving a full years worth of college tuition paid for by these organizations.”

Abygail Wenberg received scholarships from the following organizations: Phelps Woman’s Club, Jacob Sieg Memorial Scholarship, Booster Club, St. Mary’s Church and Phelps Parent Association. She will be attending Fox Valley Technical college pursuing an Early Childhood Education certification.

Darren Wittchow, salutatorian received a Friends of Phelps scholarship and will be recognized as All State football player at a game being held at UW-Oshkosh in July. Wittchow will be attending UW-Oshkosh to play football and take classes in business and marketing.

Taliea Doppke, class valedictorian, was the recipient of the Phelps School Scholarship, Maple Syrup Scholarship, Phelps Lions Club Scholarship, and the Phelps Parents Association Scholarship. Doppke will be attending WU-Stevens Point to study sports medicine.
