More than 100 children and adults attended the inaugural tree lighting in downtown Phelps on the evening of Dec. 4. Santa Claus visited with children, handed out goodie bags and lit the Christmas tree, and a campfire and hot chocolate were available to keep attendees warm. The event was sponsored by the Phelps Woman’s Club, town of Phelps, Phelps Volunteer Fire Department, Phelps-Land O’ Lakes Lions Club, Phelps Chamber of Commerce, and Sweets Little Christmas Shop.
