The Phelps Chamber of Commerce hosted their second annual winter trail cleanup at the Deerskin snowshoe trails Feb. 27.

Twelve volunteers took to the trails to clean up any branches, trees and other debris from the trail system.

“We couldn’t have picked a better day for this trail clean up. The weather was wonderful and the trails were in great shape,” said Amy Thomason, director of the Phelps chamber.

Volunteers split up and walked all four of the trails that make up the Deerskin snowshoe trails.

“This annual event not only is a great way to ensure the trails are in fantastic condition but also to highlight the wonderful trail network that the Phelps area has to offer,” Thomason added.

The chamber is planning another trail cleanup in the fall. Anyone who would like to be added to the Friends of the Trails mailing list or is interested in the trails can call the chamber at (715) 545-3800.
