GOTR impacts communities across the United States and Canada through its network of more than 200 councils. Each council is committed to the mission of inspiring girls to be confident, compassionate, kind, joyful and healthy using a fun, experience-based curriculum, which creatively integrates running.

GOTR Northwoods is the local council and nonprofit that provides programing at North Lakeland Elementary, Lac du Flambeau, Arbor Vitae-Woodruff, Minocqua Hazelhurst Lake Tomahawk Elementary School, Chequamegon Elementary, James Williams Middle School, Franklin Elementary, G.D. Jones Elementary and Edgar Elementary School.

The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Trained volunteer coaches teach life skills through 20 dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event.

As a result, an independent study showed 97% of GOTR participants learned critical life skills including resolving conflict, helping others and intentional decision-making.

Funds raised at the 5K will contribute to the mission of GOTR Northwoods, to inspire girls to be confident, kind, compassionate and healthy.
