The Eagle River Recreation Association (ERRA) is hosting its first fun run with local sponsors of Eagle River.

“Cinco de Mile — May the 4th be with you — is a family fun event to help raise money for the maintenance and general operations to keep our historic Dome operating,” said Gen Hicks of the ERRA.

Cinco de Mile will take place on Saturday, May 4. The event starts at 10 a.m. for a quarter-mile sprint and 10:30 a.m. for the Taylor Mile (a little over a mile).

All participates are asked to park at the Sports Arena and be shuttled by bus to the starting markers for whichever race they are participating in. The ERRA asks all participates to arrive a half hour prior to their race.

The registration fee is $20. Those registering by April 17 will be guaranteed a race T-shirt. Pre-race packet pick up is Friday, May 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dome lobby. The race will take place on Taylor Lake Road and finish inside the Dome.

“We will have the assistance of the Eagle River Police Department and volunteers to ensure all runners’ safety,” said Hicks. “Following the run, stick around to enjoy walking tacos (available for purchase), face painting, a dunk tank and a bounce house.

“This event has a Star Wars twist, so expect to see some special guest appearances and if running isn’t your thing, please come and enjoy the event in your Star Wars best,” said Hicks.
