The Northland Pines boys basketball team beat Wittenberg-Birnamwood 61-58 in overtime in a nonconference game at Wittenberg last Friday night.

The Eagles led 25-19 at the half, but the Chargers out scored Pines 30-24 in the second half to send the game into overtime. In the overtime, Pines had the upper hand with a 12-9 advantage and went home with a 3-point victory.

Ryan Peterson led Pines with 36 points, followed by Max Lurvey with 11. Jack Hayes contributed eight points, Ben Tilley five and Luciano Svetnicka three.

Pines, 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the Great Northern Conference (GNC), was scheduled to play at Hurley in a nonconference game on Tuesday of this week and will play at Medford in a GNC game this Thursday, Jan. 10, starting at 7:15 p.m.
