The Eagle River Falcons men’s hockey team returns to action Friday and Saturday with a pair of Great Lakes Hockey League (GLHL) games.

In what is the second-to-last weekend of play before the tournament action gets underway in April, the team begins a three-game run in attempt to gain ground in the season standings.

Friday Eagle River heads to De Pere to face the Deacons before facing off with the Fond du Lac Bears Saturday.

Each of those games will play an important role in playoff positioning as one more regular season game at home against Calumet remains before the postseason tourney.

After going idle this past weekend, Eagle River remained in eighth place in the nine-team league with 10 team points. They are one point behind De Pere which means a win Friday vaults them into seventh place.

While they would need to sweep their final three games of the season and have Fox Cities lose out in order to catch the Ice Dogs, it does remain possible that the team could move up four positions.

Both games this weekend are set for 8 p.m. starts. The team returns home for the regular season finale set Saturday, March 23, at 8 p.m. inside the Eagle River Sports Arena.
