Northland Pines senior Taylor Olivotti and junior Teresa Kopanski received honorable mention on the Great Northern Conference (GNC) 2018-’19 girls basketball all-conference team.’

Olivotti, who had to play inside for the Eagles most of the season at 5-foot-8, scored 90 points in 12 GNC games and pulled down 49 rebounds. 

Kopanski led the Eagles with 120 points and 56 rebounds. She also dished out 33 assists, good for fourth in the GNC, and had 27 steals. She led the GNC in free throw percentage, making 46 of 58 for 79%.

First team players included Lakeland senior Melissa Bruckner, Medford senior Desirae Weissmiller, Rhine¬≠lander juniors Kenedy Van Zile and Cynthia Bea¬≠vers, and Mosinee senior Megan Priest. 

Van Zile was named the GNC Player of the Year and Rhinelander coach Ryan Clark was named GNC Coach of the Year. Bruckner, Weissmiller and Van Zile were unanimous first team selections.

Van Zile led the league in scoring with 317 points, an average of 26.4 points per game.

Second team players included Lakeland junior Abby Parris, Medford sophomore Marissa Fronk and junior Sierra Hanson, Rhinelander senior Brooke Mork and Tomahawk senior Sierra Graeber.

Other honorable mention players included: senior Alayna Weix, senior Brinna Mauk, junior Lily Nagel, sophomore Greta Parsons and sophomore Alonna Weix, all of Antigo; senior Emma Salquist of Lakeland; freshman Rynn Ruesch of Medford; junior Paige Wicklund, freshman Alexis Freiboth and senior Allison Miller, all of Mosinee; and sophomore Rebecca Lawrence and senior Payton Van Zile, both of Rhinelander.

Rhinelander won the conference at 12-0, followed by Lakeland at 9-3, Medford at 8-4, Mosinee at 7-5, Antigo at 4-8 and Northland Pines and Tomahawk both at 1-11.

The Eagles, coached by Josh Olivotti, finished the season 2-20 overall.
