For the second year in a row, Cory and Kelly Newton have organized a back-to-school supply drive for students at St. Germain Elementary and the Northland Pines Montessori Learning Center in St. Germain.

Previously, Principal Tony Duffek had asked for backpack donations in addition to the supplies, but having a year’s experience with the project, he is now asking for small velcro-closure, rubber-soled gym shoes, sizes one and two.

Along with cash and check donations, items such as Crayola crayons, markers, pencils, glue sticks, tissues, watercolor paint sets and other school-related items are needed.

Many of the donated items will be shared within a classroom so several students will benefit from the donation at the same time. The complete list of items may be found at each drop-off point: mBank, Business Connection and St. Germain Chamber of Commerce.

Monetary donations may be left at mBank with checks made payable to St. Germain Elementary School or mailed to Cory Johnston-Newton, P.O. Box 296, St. Germain, WI 54558.

Cory Newton has donation piggy banks for any businesses willing to set them on their counters for customer contributions. She will drop off a piggy bank at any local business requesting one. Call her at (715) 891-3259 to request a piggy bank.

The drive runs from July 13 through Aug. 10.

Generous monetary gifts reached just over $1,300 in the 2018 drive.
