Bob Munson, president of the Star Laker’s Club in the town of Plum Lake, recently provided information about the outcome of the club’s second annual Community Project Raffle which concluded Oct. 5 with a drawing at Stillwaters.

The raffle generated approximately $1,500 for club programs.

Benches in the Star Lake park, additional playground equipment, and financial support for aquatic invasive species monitoring at area boat landings will be visible benefits of the raffle.

Jessica Becker of Slinger won the first prize — a handmade quilt and sham donated to the raffle by the Plum Lake Quilt Shop in Sayner. The second prize went to Richard Breezer, a Star Lake resident, who will receive a half-day guided fishing trip with Mike Errington. Roscoe Benjamin of Brown Deer won the third prize of a half-day fishing trip with guide Chuck Altamore. Finally, a 32-inch LED TV, donated by the Star Laker’s Club, went to Karl Backhaus of Star Lake.

Ticket sales for the third annual raffle will be available in the summer of 2020 with winners selected in early October of that year.

The club was organized in the 1960s to support the town and community, which included clearing and maintaining local trails, signage for events and places in the area, as well as support for local fire and emergency medical services units.
