In conjunction with the “Save the Dome” campaign, Northland Pines Alumni Hockey wants to start a new alumni tradition in December when people are coming back home to visit during the holiday season.

Pines hockey has asked for help in raising the $11,000 cost of the curved glass installed in the bench area of the new Dome boards.

To build off of the OAM Alumni Tournament fundraiser held every summer, organizers are hoping to try to involve even more alumni in an effort to give back to the place that has given them so many memories.

It is their sincere hope that holding an alumni event each December will be able to draw more players and families that may not be able to attend during the busy summer.

The goal is to create a family-themed, time conscious evening with friendly full ice games, as well as an environment that allows ample time to reconnect with fellow alumni and families.

What is needed from Northland Pines Alumni Hockey players (any and all years) is assistance in promoting this event and encouraging more of their fellow classmates and alums to commit to this fundraising opportunity. In order to make the gathering a big success, organizers said they would need to see a commitment of 40 players.

As with the OAM Alumni Tournament, players will be asked to pay to participate. Plus the public is welcomed to come watch for free and participate in an open skate with everyone.

The ice is reserved in the Dome on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the women’s alumni game from 4 to 5 p.m., an open skate for all players, families and the public from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and the men’s alumni game from 6 to 7 p.m.
