The American Red Cross is urging eligible donors to give the gift of life to help ensure patients don’t have to worry about the availability of blood this winter.

Blood and platelet donations of all types are needed, especially type O, according to a Red Cross press release.

There will be an opportunity to give blood Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Three Lakes School, located at 6930 W. School St. in Three Lakes, from noon to 5 p.m.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental permission, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and have a photo ID.

Donors are encouraged to eat a regular meal and drink plenty of fluids.

To schedule an appointment to donate, download the free Red Cross Blood Donor app, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-(800) RED CROSS (733-2767).
