Firefighters from 20 area departments were called in for manpower and water to battle a fire at Gooch’s A-One Bar & Grill in Boulder Junction early Sunday morning.
Firefighters from 20 area departments were called in for manpower and water to battle a fire at Gooch’s A-One Bar & Grill in Boulder Junction early Sunday morning.
Gooch’s A-One Bar & Grill in Boulder Junction was destroyed by a blaze early Sunday morning after a crashed vehicle apparently started the fire, according to authorities.

Vilas County 911 received a report at 1:37 a.m. Sunday that a motor vehicle struck a power pole at Gooch’s A-One, located at 6215 Highway M in Boulder Junction, and the vehicle was on fire. 

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and observed the vehicle fully engulfed and the fire had spread into the structure. 

Twenty area fire departments responded to the scene, however, the building was a total loss. 

The driver was taken into custody and alcohol is be­lieved to be a factor in the crash, according to authorities.

The business was closed at the time of the incident and there were no reported injuries.

The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Junction Fire Department and EMS, Manitowish Waters Fire Department and EMS, Winchester Fire Department and EMS, Presque Isle Fire Department, Arbor Vitae Fire Department, Plum Lake Fire Department, St. Germain Fire Department, Land O’ Lakes Fire Department, Eagle River Area Fire Department, Lac du Flambeau Fire Department, and multiple other agencies from surrounding counties and Michigan responded to the scene. Many of the fire departments supplied water to the location.

The case is still under investigation.
