The Eagle River Recreation Association (ERRA) will host a check presentation ceremony Tuesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Dome to accept checks from Kraft Hockeyville and the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA).

The event will include a community barbecue with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. and the check presentation ceremony starting at 7:30 p.m.

The first presentation will be a $30,000 check from Kraft Hockeyville followed by a $10,000 donation of hockey equipment made by the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program.

“We are hoping for a large turnout and a fun evening,” said Tony Brown of the ERRA.

The ERRA participated in the Kraft Hockeyville USA 2019 contest earlier this year, vying for the opportunity to host an NHL preseason game and $150,000 in rink upgrades. The runner-up, which was the ERRA, received $30,000 in rink upgrades, with each second-place rink receiving $10,000 in rink upgrades. Each of the four finalists received $10,000 in new hockey equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program.

The other finalists included the Calumet Colosseum in Calumet, Mich., which finished first, along with Wexford County Civic Center in Cadillac, Mich., and Bernicks Arena in Sartell, Minn.

The ERRA is currently in the middle of the Save the Dome campaign to raise $700,000 to replace the in-floor cooling system in the historic Dome. About $150,000 has already been raised for the project.
