Alex Racino scored twice in the first period and the Eagle River Falcons poured on five goals in the third period to skate away from the De Pere Deacons and win 9-6 in an important Great Lakes Hockey League (GLHL) matchup in Green Bay this past Saturday night.
After Friday’s home match was postponed, the Falcons hit the road Saturday in search of a win as they were trying to improve their league résumé heading into the final few weeks of the GLHL regular season.
Racino got the visitors on the board in the first with a goal just 71 seconds into the game. After De Pere tied the game minutes later, Jacob Robinson scored for the visitors, followed by another Racino goal to make it 3-1 Falcons going into the second.
After Robinson opened the second period with his second of the night, De Pere was able to mount a charge with four consecutive scored to end the frame as they would take a 5-4 lead heading into the third.
Alex Kornely wasted no time tying the game to start the final period and Racino notched a hat trick, plus one more, before Todd Koritzinsky and Cal Laggis also each scored to help vault the Eagle River Falcons to the 9-6 win.
Mike Madosh stopped 43 shots on goal for the visitors as he picked up the win. Overall, Eagle River put an impressive 72 shots on goal across three periods.
The Falcons may try to make up a home game this weekend; however they are not scheduled to play until they hit the road March 24-25 to take on first Fox Cities and then Fond du Lac.
