The spirit of the season will come alive in Three Lakes as the chamber of commerce and area businesses will present the 25th annual Festival of Lights and Jingle Mingle shopping event this Friday and Saturay, Nov. 29-30.

“The event is a family-friendly, fun and overall uplifting occasion meant to ring in the holiday and Christmas season in Three Lakes,” said Chamber Director Collette Sorgel.

Beginning Friday, events will get underway downtown as the Three Lakes Center for the Arts will air a free showing of the holiday classic “Polar Express” at 2 p.m. Children and their families are invited to come dressed in pajamas with a Christmas photo.

That evening events will be headquartered at Cy Williams Park in Three Lakes beginning at 4 p.m. and will include an old-fashioned tree lighting ceremony and live reindeer, elves and a sleigh for photos. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The Three Lakes Chamber will be providing horse-drawn wagon rides from 4 to 7 p.m. They will depart from the chamber and go to Maple Lake before returning downtown.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck at 5 p.m. The lighting of the 95-foot Christmas tree with over 3,000 lights will follow. Christmas carols and karaoke for children and adults will also be available. Chili and beverages will be available for purchase.

Whether homebaked or purchased, the Three Lakes chamber will accept donations for the Festival of Lights to go with the chili, coffee and hot chocolate. Baked goods or cookies can be dropped off at the chamber office by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
