Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the annual Hallowfest Halloween event Saturday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Eagle River featuring a treasure hunt, costume contest and Halloween-themed movies at Vilas Cinema.

“This event is free to families with young children,” said Kathy Holperin, chamber coordinator of the event. “We are delighted to provide a day of family fun and hope that area children will enjoy Hallowfest.”

Registration for the business treasure hunt will begin at 11 a.m. at Rotary Square, across from the Vilas Cinema. Families will be able to wander the streets to find participating businesses who will “treat” children with goodies, and stamp their treasure map. Completed maps will qualify for prize drawings.

The costume contest will be held at 1 p.m. with prizes for the best costumes in three different age groups.

Other activities will include a dance performance by Chain O’ Dance studio, treat bags provided by the Eagle River Lions Club, a prize spinning wheel, and free movies, popcorn and soda at Vilas Cinema for youths younger than age 15.
