Tickets are now on sale for the Young Irelanders, a folk festival group, who will perform in the Northland Pines High School auditorium Saturday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The show is part of the “Music to Your Ears” 2019-’20 concert season which is being presented by the Headwaters Council for the Performing Arts (HCPA) along with show sponsor, Ascension.
The Young Irelanders are a folk festival group that brings honest, Irish traditional music and step dance to their performances. A representative of the group promises that attending the concert will be “like going right to Ireland and enjoying a community festival.”
The group is brought together each year by the Irish Cultural Academy for the purpose of touring the world.   They represent and promote the great music and dance of Ireland. This particular troupe is unique among their peers in that they are all world and Irish national champions in their disciplines.
Members have performed across six continents and for many heads of state including U.S. presidents, royalty of the U.K., and many European leaders. They have performed at such venues as the Beijing Opera House, Sydney Opera House, the Kremlin State Palace, the U.S Capitol, The Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center.
“Cultural exchanges are such an interesting and entertaining way to expose our youth to the many various kinds of music and culture found around the globe,” a spokesperson for the performers said. “Additionally, these groups, no matter what country they come from, visit the United States to reconnect with their kinship.”
Individual tickets for the show cost $25 for adults, $10 for students, and may be purchased at Eagle River Roasters, located at 339 W. Pine St. in Eagle River, or by calling (715) 479-7995. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the night of the performance beginning at 6:30 p.m. All seats are reserved seating.
