The Professional Muskie Tournament Trail (PMTT) will take place this Saturday and Sunday, June 25-26, on the Eagle River and Three Lakes Chain of Lakes to give muskie hunters the chance to win up to $20,000 in prizes.

According to Tournament Director Tim Widlacki, PMTT events are the most high profile, exciting, educational and entertaining muskie tournaments in the country.

“The PMTT’s high energy format has been developed not only with the pros in mind, but also the dozens and dozens of other excellent muskie anglers who may have the desire and ability to become pros, or just enjoy a little competition and want to have a good time,” Widlacki said.

The event is hosted by the Eagle River and Three Lakes area chambers of commerce. Registration will be held Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. followed by a rules meeting promptly at 5 p.m. at the Reiter Center in Three Lakes, located at 1858 S. Michigan St.

Organizers remind anglers that this is a full-field event of 125 teams so they should arrive early to register. Registration will be cutoff at 4:55 p.m. in order to start the rules meeting on time, and anyone not registered by the cutoff will have to wait until after the meeting to complete their registration.

A full day of fishing will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Takeoff on the Eagle River Chain will be from Eagle Waters Resort on Eagle Lake, and on the Three Lakes Chain, at Pike’s Pine Isle Lodge on Medicine Lake. Sunday’s tournament hours are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tournament anglers will be allowed to trailer between Eagle River and Three Lakes chains of lakes during tournament hours. All navigable waters that can be accessed by boat from the takeoff locations are open during the tournament. Any waters that cannot be reached by boat from the takeoff locations are off limits.

Both the Saturday get-together at 5 p.m. and the Sunday awards ceremony at 2 p.m. will be held at the World Championship Derby Complex in Eagle River, located at 1521 N. Railroad St.

The top winner in the PMTT will take home a $20,000 prize. The top 10 anglers will take home cash prizes, with second place earning $5,000; third, $3,600; and fourth, $2,500. In addition, a Big Fish Award of $500 each day will be awarded in all qualifying events. Other prizes and raffles also will be available.

“Success in the PMTT can take you down many roads no matter what your skill level. Come join the PMTT and have some fun,” Widlacki said.
