While Oneida County snowmobile trails were originally scheduled to open last Saturday morning, the Oneida County Snowmobile Council decided to keep the funded snowmobile trail system closed until further notice.

In a press release issued Jan. 8, the council said they re-evaluated the trail conditions following the initial announcement.

“The Oneida County Snowmobile Council apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused, but believes this is the right decision,” the press releases noted.

The Oneida County snowmobile trail opening will be announced at a later date. Vilas County trails, though in poor to fair condition, remain open.
