Thousands of area residents and North Woods visitors are expected in Three Lakes this Saturday as the Three Lakes Fire Department Auxiliary hosts its 26th annual Pumpkin Fest celebration.

Events are set for Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be headquartered at Three Lakes High School.

Over the years, the event has helped enhance the fire department by funding the purchase of safety equipment, updated turnout gear and other items.

“The auxiliary works year-round to plan the event,” said Auxiliary President Linda Remington. “And it takes a small army of dedicated volunteers to help execute the event. It can be a lot of fun, and we welcome folks who are willing to donate a baked item or volunteer the day of to help make the event another success in its 26th year.”

Crafters and artisans from around the Midwest will gather for the one-day festival with more than 100 indoor and outdoor booths. There also will be a mini farmers market outdoors.

Fresh cranberries and apples will be available from Three Lakes Junior High School’s eighth-grade class to help fund their trip to Washington, D.C.

A wide range of baked goods and homemade items will include fresh cinnamon rolls made by volunteer bakers from Eagle River’s Abundant Life Church.

Returning this year is the always popular pumpkin soup sale served for lunch, along with several other soup choices and hot food items. Pie, whole or by the slice,  will be on sale. Caramel apples also will be offered.

A new souvenir T-shirt will be available as well as a limited supply of last year’s commentative 25th anniversary shirts. A raffle will feature an autographed football and 100-year anniversary sweatshirt donated by the Green Bay Packers, along with a number of wines donated by Three Lakes Winery. Winners need not be present to win.

The winery will conduct cranberry marsh tours throughout the day, with tickets available in advance by calling (715) 388-7434.
