John (Jack) Lapp "Minnow" 96, a lifelong resident of Land O' Lakes, died on March 8, 2025.
Jack was born in Phelps to Robert and Florence Lapp on Dec. 25, 1928.
He married Dolores Ott on Nov. 27, 1948. Their marriage lasted 67 years, until her death.
Jack was a professional fishing guide for over 65 years and instilled a love of fishing to his family, friends, and clients. "He knew all the hot spots!"
As a young man he also enjoyed working in the woods as a logger. In his later years he spent his winters in Florida with Dolores, fishing and crabbing. During the summers in Land O' Lakes he enjoyed gardening and sharing fresh vegetables with family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Lapp; one son, John Lapp Jr.; daughter-in-law, Colleen Lapp; grandson, James; brothers, Bob, Dick, Don; and parents, Robert (Florence) Lapp.
He is survived by two sons, Jim (Joan), Land O' Lakes, and Jeff, Sebastian, Fla.; daughter, Gail (Gregg) Mallick, Land O' Lakes; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Per Dad's request, there will be no service, but there will be a shore lunch and fishing day for the family in the summer.
Hildebrand Funeral Home served the family.
