Randal B. Goodrum

Randal B. Goodrum of St. Germain died Friday, April 14, 2023, in Appleton after a long illness. He was 63.

He was born Oct. 21, 1959, in Princeton, Ill., to Joseph and Margie Goodrum.

The family moved to St. Germain in 1975, and Mr. Goodrum graduated from Northland Pines High School in 1977. 

Mr. Goodrum spent more than 30 years as a firefighter and first responder for the St. Germain Fire Department. He ran the St. Germain flea market for more than 25 years and was instrumental in building it into the successful event it is today. 

He was a carpenter and did maintenance at White Birch Village in Boulder Junction for close to 30 years. He also groomed snowmobile trails for the Sno-Eagles in Eagle River for many years.

Mr. Goodrum attended the Eagle River Baptist Church.

He also was on the Oprah Winfrey Show in November, 1988. 

Mr. Goodrum was preceded in death by his two sons, Danny and Nathan, in 1987; one brother, Wayne; and his parents. 

He is survived by one son, Joseph Goodrum of St. Germain; one goddaughter, Katie Cappetta of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Mick Goodrum of Princeton, and Dennis Goodrum of Leicester, N.C.; and many other relatives. 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at the St. Germain Community United Church of Christ. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with burial to follow at the St. Germain Cemetery.
