The Vilas County Economic Development Corporation (VCEDC) announced that the Eagle River Animal Hospital has been selected for its 2024 Business of the Year Award.
The announcement was made at the VCEDC Annual Meeting on Friday, Dec. 13.
The Eagle River Animal Hospital was selected among eleven VCEDC Business of the Month recipients this past year. The Eagle River Animal Hospital was named the January 2024 Business of the Month.
“When you look back at 2024 one business stood out to us, the Eagle River Animal Hospital,” said Jim Tuckwell, VCEDC Board Chairman. “Owner Dr. Katie Hom had a vision to take veterinary care in Eagle River to the next level with its new, modern, and efficient 10,000 sq. ft. facility, which is serving pet owners from throughout the North Woods, central Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. After one year in its new facility, the Eagle River Animal Hospital is already exceeding growth targets which is a testament to the quality of care that they provide.”
Dr. Hom expressed her gratitude for the Business of the Year Award recognition, saying, “We are honored to receive the Business of the Year award for 2024. We hoped to create a professional, modern facility while preserving the warmth and compassion of our personalized care. This recognition affirms that we didn’t just build a building, but a piece of the community that will continue to serve pets far into the future.”
The past VCEDC Business of the Year Award recipients include Private Chef Luke in 2023, Trout Lake Station in 2022, Camp Manitowish in 2021 and Great Wisconsin Steak Company in 2020.
