300 anglers cast lines at annual musky tournament

Posted

Nearly 300 anglers participated in the St. Germain’s Chamber of Commerce 36th annual Greater Wisconsin Musky Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6.

Many of the teams were families who have been attending the tournament for several years, but there were several first-time participants, too.

Friday night’s hosts were Pete Stoltman (Last Cast Fishing Outfitters) and Christina Truppe

(Christina Truppe Musky Guide Service). At the night’s regulations meeting, participants won prizes including a Striker Predator fishing suit, Abu Garcia reels and St. Croix rods.

Anglers fished on ten different lakes: Big St. Germain Lake, Little St. Germain Lake, Big Arbor Vitae Lake, Little Arbor Vitae Lake, Lost Lake, Found Lake, Dam Lake, Sand Lake, Pickerel Lake and Plum Lake.

Thirteen muskies and five northern pikes were verified and registered following state fishing regulations.

The top three musky winners were Reggie Reck (West Allis), Jim Costello (Ranson, Ill.) and Trevor Hasse (Monroe).

Reck’s 45” musky was caught on Sand Lake and Costello’s 45” musky was netted on Little St. Germain Lake. Hasse caught his 44.25” musky on Found Lake. The largest northern pike, a 36”, was caught by Green Bay native Brenton Arndt on Plum Lake.

Next year’s tournament is set for Oct. 4 - 5.
