Conrad Heeg
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Conrad L. Heeg on April 18, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, surrounded by family. He was 78 years old.
A native and lifelong resident of Wisconsin, Conrad was born in central Wisconsin and raised in Pittsville as the oldest son of the late Richard and Elaine (Hotchkiss) Heeg.
He spent his early adulthood outside of Milwaukee, where he met his lifelong partner Pamela (Kolenz). The pair fell in love almost instantly and were inseparable from the first day they met (before a Brewers game). They married just four short months later. Three years later, their oldest child Jennifer was born, followed by identical twins Laura and Sara. Conrad and Pamela shared 51 devoted years of marriage, and in the end, during Conrad’s 3.5-month hospital stay, Pamela was there every day and night, never leaving his side and managing his care, earning herself the nickname “The General” from hospital staff for her dedication to him.
Conrad shared passions for baseball and music (especially 1970s rock and Willie Nelson) with his oldest daughter Jen, and a deep love of cars, snowmobiles, and racing with his twin girls, Laura and Sara. His loving pride extended to his grandchildren, Jackson (11) and River (4), who brought him immense happiness and light. The family’s favorite place to be was always on a boat, especially up north. They ultimately moved to “God’s Country” (the Eagle River/Three Lakes Chain of Lakes) where he lived out his days.
He is preceded in death by his brother John and sisters-in-law Candice Kolenz Gladson and Garnett Kolenz Brady and his mother-in-law Garnate Kolenz Gass. He leaves behind his siblings Pam (Tom Jensen), Greg (Linda), and Jeff (Pam), sister-in-law Sharon Valentine and brother-in-law James (Leah) Valentine, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, five godchildren, cousins and many close friends and extended family members.
After one hilariously mishap-filled extended family gathering, Conrad was nicknamed Clark W. Griswold, and the tradition of “Griswold Family Reunions” that Conrad and Pamela initially hosted on the Chain of Lakes began.
A proud veteran, Conrad served in the US Army Reserves. As a professional, he made his mark in the world of computers and was proud to have been a part of many early milestones in computing in the 1970s and 1980s . But his greatest professional joy came from his tenure as the Executive Director of the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce for 14 years, where he was able to share his love for the Northwoods with visitors and locals alike.
Conrad lived by a simple but powerful motto: family first. He showed this every day through his dedication, strength, and constant presence in the lives of those he loved, especially with his wife Pamela. His legacy is one of loyalty, kindness, and the deep bonds he nurtured throughout his life. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
At the family’s request, there will be no funeral service at this time. A memorial service and celebration of life may be forthcoming in Wisconsin later this year
