The World Championship Derby Complex track crew has been working hard to produce snow for the last month as the track gets transformed into a premier Snocross track for the AMSOIL Eagle River Snocross National this weekend, with all-day racing on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14.
This will be the final race of the 2026 schedule at the Complex, as the best-of-the-best in Snocross racing are welcomed to the Snowmobile Capital of the World for a late-season race in the National Tour.
WCDC CEO Tom Anderson commented on the preparation for the event, the hard work the track crew has done so far, and what they are currently working on late last week.
“We started making snow immediately after the World Series with three guns running 24 hours a day, and have the infield that SnoCross will be using filled with snow. Trucks are hauling snow from the grounds to fill in where needed,” he said.
The recent warmup into the high 40s and even 50s last week didn’t help, but Anderson said any cloudy day wouldn’t make much of a difference in snow loss for the event. He said it is still a full go for this weekend.
“The warmer cloudy days should not be a problem, as the nights are below freezing and an icy crust hinders melting,” stated Anderson. “We are in full motion for the thrilling SnoCross to start.”
Classes ranging from the juniors all the way up to the Pro class will hit the track at one time or another throughout the two-day event. Racing on Friday will open at 10 a.m. Juniors, Transition 9-13, Stock 200, Sport and Sport Lite classes will run practice and multiple heat races during the afternoon hours, with the junior classes starting finals around 2 p.m. and Sport and Sport Lite running finals after that, around 5 p.m.
Opening ceremonies for the night schedule will start at 6 p.m., with racing following directly after at 6:20 p.m. The Pro class will open the evening festivities with their round one race. The Pro Lite, Stock 200, Pro Am Women and Pro Am Plus 30 will run between the three Pro runs. The Pro final will run as the last race of the night at 8:40 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule will be much of the same in the morning and afternoon, but racing starts at 8:15 a.m. instead of 10. One addition to Saturday afternoon’s festivities is autographs from pro riders from 2:30-3:30 p.m. after their practice run.
Night racing opens with ceremonies at 6 p.m. and racing again starting at 6:20 p.m. The final race of the night will once again be at roughly 8:40 p.m.
Tickets are still available for purchase for the highly-anticipated event. General single-day admission is $40 a ticket for both Friday and Saturday viewing. A two-day Super Ticket is $70 a piece. Anderson said there are still indoor seats available for purchase. Single-day hot seat tickets are $80 and $150 for both days. All ages will need a seat purchased inside, except for babies and toddlers on a lap. Kids 12 and under are free for general admission.
