Lakeland Area Mountain Bike Organization (LAMBO) will again host its annual Fatathlon fat tire bike race, but this time at a new location.
Fat tire biking enthusiasts are invited to come out Saturday, Feb. 7, with registration open at 8:30 a.m. and racing at 10:30 a.m.
Previously held at Shannon Lake Trails on Highway G, the event has moved to its new home at the Sucker Springs Singletrack trailhead, located on Ski Hill Road between Eagle River and Conover.
At the event, racers will take part in their choice of a 10- or 20-mile race, and then have the chance to improve their ride time at the cornhole toss on the grounds.
Spectators are welcome to attend and take advantage of the refreshments, snacks and campfires that will be on site. Fatathlon merchandise also will be for sale, and raffles and door prizes will be given out once all racers have returned.
According to LAMBO, the Sucker Springs trails are in excellent condition, and open only for fat tire bike use.
Online registration can be completed at lamboriders.org, and day-of registration also will be available onsite. Cost is $50.
All proceeds raised at the event go toward the building and maintenance of area trails.
Major sponsors of the event include Northwoods Wildlife Center, Bare Bones Brewing, Vilas County Forestry and Recreation Department, Chequamegon Adventure Company, and The Hiker Box.
