The Land O’ Lakes Library recently hosted a Search and Rescue presentation showcasing the skills and dedication of K9 handlers.
Lieutenant Janet Siefert of the Newbold Fire Department, and also Vice President of Canine Search and Recovery, led the informative session on the complex tasks these teams perform.
A special recognition, the “Buddy Thurston Memorial Award,” was presented to handler Brad Knaack and his K9, Mozzarella (“Mozzi”), for an “Outstanding First Find” in July of 2024.
The pair also demonstrated a live tracking exercise using the scent of a small child, followed by an engaging question-and-answer session.
