Thinking of creating hand-made gifts this holiday season? With a Land O’ Lakes Library card you have access to CreativeBug, a website chock full of video lessons on everything from beautiful gift tags to edible gifts, to creating a painting or quilt. Some lessons teach a specific skill, like how to miter a corner when sewing; some walk you step-by-step through making a project from beginning to end. Users are able to use the CreativeBug search feature to filter results by materials so that you can get right to work with the supplies that you already have at home. You may further filter by category and difficulty level. Library staff would be happy to help get you started with this fun and free website.
Little ones visiting for the holidays? The Land O’ Lakes Library has added some great new seasonal children’s books to the collection: “Evergreen” by Matthew Cordell, “My Merry Christmas” by Sally Lloyd-Jones, “Red and Green” by Lois Ehlert, “The Snow Thief” by Alice Hemming, “A Star So Bright: A Christmas Tale” by M. Christina Butler, “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh” by Mo Willems, and “The Polar Bear Wish” by Lori Evert.
Storytime Read n’ Play is held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 10:30 a.m. All children and their caregivers are welcome.
Lego Club is held on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. However, January’s meetings will be held on the 2nd (Jan. 8) and 4th (Jan. 22) Wednesdays so that they don’t conflict with New Year’s Day. Participants may be dropped off or take the school bus to the library. Call the library with any questions.
Qigong and Balance classes, taught by Dottie Reeder, are offered on Fridays from 9 - 10 a.m. through January. There is no charge for Qigong and all are welcome.
