Margaret Oberg
Margaret Elizabeth (née St. Louis) Oberg, 90, of Phelps, passed away on June 8, 2025, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Rhinelander.
She was born to Edwin and Alice (née Lillund) St. Louis on Oct. 21, 1934.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald; sister, Ruth Armstrong; and son-in-law, Gerald Booth.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Marie Oberg, Terree (Randy) Malcore, Wanda Booth, Sonia (Joe) Kichefski, Amy (Dan) Pavick and Linda (Tom) Wysocki. Margaret is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked hard for many years, employed at the Phelps Bank, Phelps Post Office and Vilas County News Review. She served as Town Clerk for the Town of Phelps and spent many years with O'Brien, Anderson, Burgy and Garbowicz Law Office in Eagle River.
She and Don were very active in their church. They also enjoyed scuba diving, identifying mushrooms, blueberry picking, gardening, canoeing, photography and many other hobbies. Margaret and Don were honored to be chosen as parade marshals for the Fourth of July parade in Phelps in 2014.
Margaret was always up for an adventure and enjoyed contributing to others' adventures too. She enjoyed learning new musical instruments and was a lifelong learner, continuing with crocheting and painting to the very end. She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Wavering Park (2223 East Hill Road, Phelps). Interment will follow at Phelps Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff in every department at Rennes who were all so kind to Margaret, as well as a multitude of friends and family who have supported and loved her over the years.
