Eagle River’s Harmon Marien has won Angler of the Year in the Northern Division of the Major League Fishing Toyota Series. This award is based on regular-season points standings across the three-tournament trail.
Marien’s win qualifies him for the Major League Fishing Pro Circuit as well as the Toyota Series Championship, taking place Nov. 5-7 at Pickwick Lake in Counce, Tenn.
The championship features the top pros and co-anglers from across the world. Anglers from China, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Spain, Zimbabwe, and the United States have all qualified to fish this event.
There are five total U.S. divisions; Marien dominated the Northern Division to earn his spot. The Northern Division included events on the Potomac River in Marbury, Maryland, where he secured his first-ever top-three finish; the St. Lawrence River in Massena, New York, where he secured another top-ten finish; and Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York, where he closed out the points race. Marien’s consistent finishes across these three tournaments earned him the division title of Angler of the Year and a place among the nation’s top anglers.
Marien will join 195 pros and 195 co-anglers at Pickwick Lake for the Toyota Series Championship, with prizes up to $235,000 and a chance to qualify for Redcrest 2027, the Bass Pro Tour World Championship. The three-day event features live weigh-in coverage each day, with Championship Saturday showcasing the top 25 and live on-the-water coverage. This event will also be nationally televised on Vice Sports.
Marien is backed by major sponsors Discover Wisconsin, Into the Outdoors, Ionic Batteries, and Montcalm Marine, and has been locally supported through his collegiate fishing career by Barber Septic and Excavating, Eagle Family Chiropractic, Klinner Insurance, Northern Tile and Stone, Eagle Floor Covering, and Re/Max Property Pros.
